I’m a pro photographer and I’ve realized the more equipment I get, the less I actually use it for anything but professional work. This review has made me really think about the S90 now. I really like the idea of the adjustment ring on the front and the size.

Yeah, I love stuffing the S90 in the thigh pocket of my combat pants when I go out, and forget about it until I need it.

Indeed. What I consider the First Pro DSLR, the Nikon D2x (I bought it because it was also the first affordable one with 12MP) had horrible noise in the shadows at ISO 800. And now the D90 is not much worse at 3200, and it’s a much smaller and cheaper camera.

I like your other pictures too, nice to see somebody who appreciates both tech and images.

I won't be carrying out a comparison with the G11 because I don't have the money to purchase one (the S90 is my property). I'm sure we'll see comparisons at some of the review pages, but for now you might find this post on DPR interesting.

I would appreciate a direct comparison with the G11. Looking at the specifications, the two camera appear almost identical, the S90 being even better because of the 2.0 aperture.

So if we could have the same image quality as the G11 with a rather smaller body, it would be a great improvement.

You are seeing things, but many of those things are, in fact, in the MIT campus Well spotted!

I’ve never used a G9, so I cannot compare it to the S90, but this guy did. Looking at his images, the S90 is already beating the G9 in the noise department at ISO 400.

As far as ergonomics are concerned, that is a very personal matter. I wanted a camera that would fit in my trouser pocket—the S90 does, the G11 doesn’t. End of story for me. Does this mean I have to adapt my grip and shooting style to the tininess of the S90? Yep, but I’m not complaining as I find it a small price to pay for what I get in return.
