PDML Exhibit

For a second year running, the PDML (Pentax-Discuss Mail List) has released a book containing photos from many of its members, amongst which I have the privilege of finding myself. New this year, the book will be accompanied by an exhibition featuring a select 44 photos (by as many photographers) from the book, and again I have the privilege of being amongst these. The exhibit opening for Augenblick: A Moment in Time will take place on May 7th, 18:00–21:00, at the DANKHaus German American Cultural Center in Chicago. The exhibit will run through June 12th, with the gallery being open to the public each Saturday 11:00–15:00, and Monday to Friday during normal working hours by appointment only. Admission is free for all. I’ve added the official press release at the end of this post. The photos being exhibited can be seen here, and believe me, they look a lot better in print!

If you are in the Chicago area this Friday, I’d love for you to come and enjoy the opening with me and a dozen or so other photographers from the book. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of other people too! I’ve seen many of the prints already, and I can assure you they are beautiful and worthy of being hung for exhibition. They were printed by Mark Roberts, a seasoned photographer and multimedia editor who is also the editor of this and last year’s books, and who luckily for me lives a few short miles away. Visit his PDML 2010 Book page to order yourself a copy of the book, and feel good about yourself doing so, because all proceeds are donated to the National Childhood Cancer Foundation (CureSearch.org), dedicated to raising private funds for childhood cancer research, clinical trials and support for families of with children with cancer. The book features 103 photographs by 57 photographers from around the World (14 countries, to be exact).

For those who can’t make it to the exhibit opening night, we’re hoping to get a webcam set up for live streaming. If successful, you’ll be able to watch it below. Don’t forget to tune in!
