I Can’t See Any Problem with This.

Even the product name tells you there's trouble here. Take a shot and get killed.

OK, so sometimes there are bad ideas or concepts that are not well thought out. Then there are ideas which are so stupid, they defy all logic. Now this isn’t a new idea, it’s been tried by at least 3 or 4 manufacturers several decades ago, but they didn’t look completely like a real rifle. Plus they never gained wide acceptance. So why try this again? See more images of the ‘Killshot” camera here. By the way, the camera is in the scope and the memory card is inserted where the clip would go on a real gun. So you’re on the street (of course near a large bank), you insert the memory card in the clip, raise the camera to your head and the next thing you know, you’re in custody or in an ER handcuffed to the bed…..

Rare 1936 Leica camera on rifle stock.

I can see the headlines now. “Photographer shot by police while innocently taking street photos”. Even in the woods, I can see this being an issue. Like taking it in an area where guns are not allowed. Transporting it in the back seat and so on.

But if you still think it’s a good idea, you can help in its development and snag one for yourself through the Killshot Kickstarter page.

Cheers and good shooting

  1. Even if it was day-glo orange you would be questioned to death.

  2. Wait….I want to be completely clear about this. The black item in the top picture is a CAMERA!?
Not a rifle with a camera in the scope?

Great for street photography, I imagine.

Actually, there’s a long line of cameras-that-look-like-guns, all the way back to the early 20th Century. Some looked like pistols. Clearly a stupid idea doesn’t get any less stupid because it’s been around for a long time.

  3. The idea isn’t that bad, though the separate, illuminated power on, power off buttons are lame and I’d guess unlikely to ever see a production model.

Anyway, clearly this one is being marketed as a firearm alternative, not a camera alternative.

Since it probably makes no noise, you can take several shots at your prey without sending them scurrying. :-)
